Final Fight Is Better Than Streets of Rage in Every Aspect

The mainstream gaming press isn’t going to tell you that either

With all the hoopla surrounding Streets of Rage 4 on the Nintendo Switch (which I own BTW). I decided to go back through my extensive SNES collection and give Nintendo’s original answer to Streets of Rage a try.

Final Fight was released in a three game series much like the Streets of Rage franchise. The game was developed by Capcom and featured many of the same elements that Streets of Rage does.

When you play it for the first time you will immediately notice the resemblance to Sega’s game. But that’s where the similarities end, because the gameplay in Final Fight is much better.

The game moves at a more fluid pace and the 5 rounds of the first title is a great introduction to the series. There are also interesting bonus games, and Final Fight is a co-op game, just like Streets of Rage.

The first Streets of Rage game seems dated to me when I pick it up, and I am a hardcore Sega fanatic. But when I played Final Fight the other night it didn’t feel all that dated to me.

If you are a fan of these classic Beat em’ up games, then you might want to give Final Fight a whirl.
