Halo 2 Review: Looking Back at One of Video Gaming's Biggest Blockbusters
Halo 2 changed the way we look at multiplayer gaming.
Halo 2 is a first-person shooter that sets a new standard for console multiplayer. It features great graphics, good sound, and a decent storyline that will have you battling against the odds to save the human race. Its multiplayer is a game changer, but the game also feels rushed.
Halo 2’s multiplayer is a revolution for console multiplayer games
In many ways, Halo 2’s multiplayer is an evolution in console multiplayer games. It introduced new features and built on the multiplayer experience from Combat Evolved, such as multiplayer maps. It also introduced the concept of matchmaking, which groups players of similar skill. In addition to this, multiplayer modes in Halo 2 are as simple as initiating a game session with a few buttons.
Multiplayer in Halo 2 starts off with an alien siege, with religious zealots wielding laser swords. The human resistance is led by the Master Chief, a walking tank with a head-sized Oakley lens, and the ability to blow up squads of aliens with ease. He has a few allies, including a prophetic AI named Cortana and an alien turned turncoat called Arbiter.
