Let’s Not Forget That Sega Created The Original Gaming ISP
People don’t give Sega the credit that it deserves for changing gaming forever.

I just finished watching the 6 hour Power On documentary released on the official Xbox YouTube channel, and the documentary was excellent in explaining the conception and history of the Xbox.
But what the documentary failed to acknowledge is how influential Sega and the Dreamcast console were in pioneering online gaming. Xbox Live wasn’t the first online gaming service, it just did it right.
A few years prior, Sega went all-out with SegaNet, which was the first and original online multiplayer gaming service. The service had 28 games that were supported in a span of 11 months.

Games like Unreal Tournament, PSO Online, and Quake 3 Arena, just to name a few. The service used the Dreamcast Microphone on a number of the games, and even though it was going through a modem, the performance was great.
SegaNet was a groundbreaking service, and those who grew up in that era of gaming should remember it. Nothing was better than hopping on NFL 2K or Quake 3 Arena and playing your friends from anywhere.
The Dreamcast was the console for the cool kids for the short time. The games were great, and the innovation of that console has lasted to this day.
