The original Xbox changed the way that we played video games. It was the first PC based home console and the first console to come from Microsoft. The Xbox took on the status quo and broke new ground for online gaming.

But there was one aspect that got a lot of flack when the console was brand new, and that was the Duke. The Duke controller as it was affectionately named was a massive controller to hold.

There is no doubt that there were a lot of similarities to the Sega Dreamcast controller at the time. But the controller had to be redesigned to a more compact size very early on.

But in recent years the Duke has been getting some love as collectors scurry to get the few original ones that are left. Which begs the question, was the Duke such a bad controller after all?

We think it was pretty darn good.
