Recently, I went through the NES library with my kids. I wanted to play many games I have never played before, and one game was Bonk’s adventure.

The gameplay was so good that I started to look into what happened to this series? I know the game was released on the TG-16, but what about a modern release?

Why did such a good platform game fade into obscurity? Well, the game actually had a much better adaption overseas. Here in America, the last game to achieve any major success was Super Bonk.

There was a game titled “Bonk Returns” for mobile phones released in 2006, but this game was buggy to say the least.

Bonk would return on the TG-16 Mini in a re-released game, and then on the Wii U Virtural Console. Konami now has the rights to the Bonk franchise, and it will be interesting to see what the company does with it.

There were a few notable platform games that were ever released, and Bonk was one of them. When you think about the greats, this game franchise is right up there with them.
