It was a big weekend for Xbox chief Phil Spencer, who won a lifetime achievement award. He had some things he wanted to tell gamers in an interview with IGN.

Spencer wants to remove the barriers that stop people from enjoying games now. He wants to work on relationships with other designers, even if they aren’t designing for the Xbox platform.

“We know that three billion people play games, but they can’t all play together today, right?,” Bond said. “There’s all these barriers between the platforms for various reasons and a lot of what we do at Xbox is we want to take those away. “We want everyone to be able to play together globally regardless of what kind of hardware they’re on and be able to communicate and do those things together with instant translation, take down all of these barriers, no matter your ability.” — IGN.

The recent reveal of the adaptive controller shows Microsoft’s commitment to removing barriers. It has been a busy week in the world of Xbox, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the brand.
